World Firefox Day
Mozilla has chosen to celebrate its anniversary through a series of events dedicated to the fans of the web browser. On this occasion, the company offers its users a
chance to be immortalized in Firefox 2.0's source code along with a friend. Mozilla
invites the users to join Firefox as a friend, and while at it to actually convince a friend to download the application.
“You made an informed decision about the way you want to use the Web. You’ve become part of the movement on which Firefox relies – a community that is restoring balance to the Web. Starting on July 15, the day that the Mozilla Foundation was created, we ask that you tell just one person who doesn’t use Firefox why you think they should, why you do. Share Firefox with a friend. If your friend downloads Firefox before September 15, you’ll both be immortalized in Firefox 2.0,” promises Mozilla.
All the persons eventually selected to participate in Mozilla's initiative will find their names accessible from the final version of Firefox 2.0 while also being displayed on a digital Firefox Friends Wall at the company's home in Mountain View.

iPod Responsable For Autism?
A recent report published by The Express On Sunday discusses the link between autism and old iPod batteries, mobile phones and other electronic products.
According to Dr Richard Lathe, Autistic children have been shown to have problems getting
rid of toxic metals - and those metals are increasingly polluting the environment.
"Think of iPod batteries, computers, television sets and mobile phones - thousands of them tossed aside without any thought to their proper disposal, " says the molecular biologist, who specializes in research into autism and other brain disorders. "If they are buried in landfill, the mercury in the batteries leaks out when it rains, and if they are burned it goes straight up into the atmosphere."
Besides all these sources of pollution, there are also, many other less common ones such as cenzurat ships, rusting cars, unsealed mines and every tin can, all of which contribute to the rise in the levels of metal in seawater.
While the doctor’s observations on the strong correlations between autism and metals in the atmosphere is without a doubt an important topic worth reporting, the report singles out the iPod as the only actual product mentioned to be in the list of pollutants. Exactly how an iPod is more responsible for autism than any other brand of portable music player is unclear. Perhaps it has something to do with the fact that it is a very high profile product and more likely to generate buzz if mentioned than any of the others.
Replacing ‘iPod’ with ‘portable music players’ would be more accurate, and less biased, but it would not generate that many hits.
