LG Prada – Video Demonstration
Enough playing around and lets get back to serious business! And when I say serious business I mean LG Prada's business, a phone which is the direct competitor of the Apple iPhone and also, until now, the handset with the most changes to kick it in the butt without it ever knowing what hit it!
Actually, I have to admit the things I wrote about are a little farfetched but you have to accept that a small seed of truth exists in that phrase. The Prada is one of iPhone's toughest contenders and, although other devices have entered the same battle (Meizu's miniOne, Samsung's F700 and, probably, the Google Phone – if it will prove to be more than a rumor), it still is the candidate with the best chances (next to the iPhone) to finish first.
If the LG Prada cellphone will not win this war it joined, it will at least remain in our memory as a brave little device that did its best to stop Apple's phone to keep the “only touchscreen handset” branded pie for itself.
Seriously now, I got my hands on a video demonstration made by t3.co.uk. After the drive test, they say the Prada proves to be exactly as good as they have expected, with a fast and smooth interface to play with and a 3 megapixel digital camera that beats the one the iPhone has in its backpack.
If it beats it at quality we cannot yet know because, as I have said in other articles, it doesn't matter if a cellphone has a camera with 10 megapixel, it still can take a crappy photo. The things that make a camera good are the software platform it uses to produce the final picture and the lenses used by the manufacturer. Having an enormous amount of pixels on a photo doesn't necessarily mean you've got the best photo in town.
The latest QWERTY device to be added to Verizon's handset lineup, the Samsung SCH-u740 is the subject of this review. This dual-hinged flip phone, complete with a QWERTY keyboard, seems to attract a lot of attention when it enters a room. Capable of being used in both the traditional portrait orientation as well as in a QWERTY keyboard equipped landscape orientation, the SCH-u740 is designed with the serious messaging enthusiast in mind. This good looking folder also offers external, touch sensitive music controls, Bluetooth support, and Verizon's 3G data and V CAST multimedia services.

Vodafone Romania lanseaza, in premiera pe piata romaneasca, solutia BlackBerry la viteze 3G, de pana la 384 kbps, anunta un comunicat al companiei. De asemenea, Vodafone anunta lansarea a doua noi terminale BlackBerry.
Telefonul BlackBerry Pearl 8100 s-a lansat pe piata internationala in urma cu cateva luni, iar acum, el este comercializat si de Vodafone Romania. BlackBerry 8707v este primul terminal compatibil cu serviciile 3G, disponibil pe piata romaneasca, mai arata comunicatul Vodafone.
Cele doua telefoane vor putea fi achizitionate din data de 12 februarie in reteaua de magazine proprii si parteneri Vodafone la pretul de 279 dolari, respectiv 389 dolari, (fara TVA). De precizat ca BlackBerry Pearl 8100 si BlackBerry 8707v vor fi disponibile doar impreuna cu un abonament pe doi ani.
BlackBerry ofera utilizatorilor posibilitatea de a se afla in legatura permanenta prin e-mail, toate mesajele trimise, primite, retransmise sau carora li s-a raspuns de pe terminal, fiind sincronizate wireless, in mod automat, cu contul de e-mail al utilizatorului.
Utilizatorii BlackBerry pot naviga pe Internet, pot efectua apeluri de voce, pot trimite/primi mesaje scrise, pot vizualiza documente atasate din e-mail cum ar fi fotografii, prezentari PowerPoint sau fisiere Microsoft Excel. Vodafone Romania avea, la sfarsitul lunii decembrie 2006, peste 7,5 milioane clienti, in tiimp ce Vodafone Group Plc detine divizii in 25 de tari si retele partenere in alte 35 de tari. LG a confirmat lansarea telefonului LG KE850 Prada. Prezentand un design cu control complet prin atingere, noul dispozitiv este rezultatul colaborarii dintre producatorul Coreean si echipa de design Prada.
Lucrul unic al acestui nou dispozitiv LG este interfata touchscreen a meniului care elimina nevoia unei tastaturi conventionale, de asemenea terminalul are o grosime de doar 12 mm si detine o interfata a utilizatorului Macromedia Flash. Telefonul Prada de la LG prezinta un ecran LCD touchscreen mare, 3", cu o rezolutie nestiuta inca, ce va fi dotat cu o camera de 2 megapixeli cu lentile Schneider-Kreuznach si slot pentru card de de memorie microSD. Cel mai interesant lucru despre ecran este faptul ca acesta este construit folosind tehnologie capabila touchscreen. Ceea ce inseamna ca ecranul foloseste electroconductibitatea pentru a percepe atingerile utilizatorului, cum este in cazul touchpad-ului popularului LG Chocolate. Aceasta tehnologie este creata pentru a fi folosita doar cu degetele, deci folosirea unui instrument de genul unui creion va fi inutila.
Telefonul PRADA de la LG va fi disponibil la un pret incepand de la 600 EUR in Marea Britanie, Franta, Germania si Italia la sfarsitul luni februarie, a acestui an, urmate apoi de tari din Asia cum ar fi China, Taiwan si Singapore, la sfarsitul lui Martie. Versiunea Coreeana a telefonului este planificata sa fie lansata in al doilea trimestru al acestui an.

Today in London, Sony Ericsson announced their new W660 handset, a member of the company's Walkman model lineup that focuses a bit more on design than some of its siblings. This is not to say that it can't compete on the music front as well, however. The W660 can store up to 470 songs (in eAAC+ format) on its included 512MB Memory Stick Micro (M2), and those tracks can be played over a Bluetooth 2.0 stereo connection so that they can be enjoyed with wireless headphones. If headphones aren't your style, the W660 can also be used with the new MPS-75 snap-on stereo speakers.
Other multimedia highlights include a 2" 262k color display, and a 2 megapixel main camera with picture blogging capability. A second, forward-facing camera is also available for video calls when the W660 is used on the 2100MHz UMTS band. The phone also supports the 900, 1800, and 1900MHz GSM bands with GPRS data, but, sadly, does not support EDGE. Like most phones these days, the W660 can run Java MIDP 2.0 applications and supports USB 2.0 connectivity - a cable is included in the box.
One new feature that the W660 can boast about is its ability to display RSS news feeds directly on its standby screen, so that you can always be kept up to date on what's happening on your favorite website - like ours. The device also supports Flash based themes and will be offered in both black and red when it ships later this year (Q2, 2007)
